This week was a busy one, multiple customers, travel and late nights. The weekend is welcome.

πΉ - Project-L becomes serious this week our first F2F workshop in Leeds. I do like Leeds as a city, so while an a bit of an exhausting trip it was nice to spend time there with colleagues. Managed to get some sort of bug though while I was there which made a rest of the week a bit wobbly.

ποΈ - I had some really good session this week about resilience, specially about remote access resilience. Given that we use remote access solutions like AVD or CyberArk to access our customers environments, it’s good to have conversations about what happens if any aspect of that access and authentication chain goes down. The “what happens if Entra ID does goes down?” conversation was probably reflective of how deep down the rabbit hole I found myself.

ποΈ - With big projects in regulated organisations one of the first things you learn is that the compliance and audit team are the kings of the castle. For us that means we always expect that our projects need to be audited, not just by customers, but by highly-paid third-parties who’s job it is to manage risk. This week we started the first round of that with internal audits for Project-R2. The practical reality is something very boring; making sure that we have evidence for everything (which we do) and that everything cross-references each other correctly (sometimes a bit iffy). This is one of those admin tasks where actually AI is a really big help.

π - This week I started using a new app Readwise Books to help me track my reading. I’ve been a Readwise user for a long time now, so I was exited to start experimenting with their new app. It’s still got a few edges, especially as a Kindle user, but overall it’s pretty polished and I’m enjoying it. I’m likely to switch to a Boox anyway next time I need a hardware refresh.
