This week involved two site visits, one for Project-R and one for a brand new opportunity here to referred to as Project-L. Balancing the big things with the small things is becoming a real challenge and finding the time to do a good job at all aspects on my role is becoming a frustrating day-to-day reflection.

  • ๐ŸŽ๏ธ - This week had a big milestone day for Project-R2. We had the entire team on-site with the customer for a single day of workshops and collaboration. Multiple rooms, big get-together, drinks afterwards. It was an important milestone for everyone to meet each other F2F. This turned out to be one of the best customer sessions I have done in years and I came away from it positive about the relationship, and full of ideas - the perfect outcome.

  • ๐Ÿ†• - A site visit for a the next big-one, Project-L, and an unusual first start where nothing was said and we were presented to for two hours. It’s actually odd to have the tables turned like this as it’s usually me doing the presenting but there are workshops coming up and there will be plenty of time to get into the weeds. This will be like Project-R, but like all projects, will have it’s own quirks. The real question everyone is asking - if we win this, which seems likely, how will we deliver it at the same time as everything else.

  • ๐Ÿš’ - While I’ve had my head down on bigger projects and initiatives, there has been a world of other customers and other projects going on in the background as the wheel never stops turning. This week I took a pause from everything else to take a look at all that and make sure everything was going ok. The thing I always reflect on, is that if all the other projects are going ok and I don’t have to intervene then it means I’ve got the right team, with the right skills and I’ve built something that will outlast me. That’s not the case with the bigger projects (yet!) but with these run-rate projects, it’s not perfect, but it’s progressing and I was really pleased.
