2 days in London, one day with hardly any meetings at all and a todo list that’s getting longer by the day.

👨🏻💼 - Monday started with the usual monthly management meeting. Perhaps the most surprising aspect was the time was spent going deeper on fewer topics. This was due to the dual circumstances of some very pressing operational and financial issues to address combined with the fact that Project-R2 and the 6DG acquisition have resulted in many other initiatives being put on ice. Perhaps it was really a good show of agility of the management team.

🏎️ - Project-R2 continues at fast face this week as we get closer and closer to the final cut-over day. Conversations about off-boarding suppliers, about reporting and about audit controls all taking up space in the calendar. A somewhat refreshing break in proceedings was the initial discussions about projects for 2027 and where budgets are being shaped. Looks like Project-R2 will be the gift that keeps on giving for some time yet and lots of genuinely interesting projects and not just a volume of the mundane.

🪀 - Wednesday was certainly a refreshing day for me where I blocked out most of the day to focus on digging into ServiceNow as part of Project-R2. It’s been quite some time since I could honestly say I spent time “hands on keyboard” but this was an opportunity to build a POC of some reporting and workflows for the customer and for me, dive deeper into a tool that I use every day. I certainly learnt a few things I didn’t know and also means I can be more informed about what’s possible in the future. A lesson learnt for me that I need to make time for myself to spend, even a little but of time hands-on as it really brightened up my week and taught me some practical things.
