With the bank holiday Monday, this week was one of those compressed 4-day weeks where everything seems to go in a flash. I’ve always been a silent advocate for the idea of a 4-day week, but most implementations I’ve seen take the approach of doing the same hours in a compressed period. I think I’ve come to realise that I don’t think this is something I could do, I don’t think I’ve got the energy for it and I don’t think it actually gives you the break you think it might. I suspect all it achieves is to make the weeks fly past even quicker. Anyway, that’s a rant for another day. This week, being a little shorter, just means that my focus was really on Project-R2, but as the light at the end of that tunnel draws closer so does the next one appear on the horizon.

🏎️ - Project-R2 continues at it’s all-comsuming rapid pace, particularly as D-day for service go-live approaches and the realisation that there is only 15 working days left until this moment. Reporting, tooling, SLAs, billing, edge-cases, Day1 vs Day2, right-now vs improvements. Planning. Escalating. Calming. Back-to-back meetings. Is it Friday yet?

💷 - Next big opportunity, similar in size to Project-R2, has had it’s RFI stage and this Friday was a quick presentation on that basis. RFP likely in a couple of weeks and some work to do in the mean time but it’s almost exactly what we’re working on now for Project-R2 and I expect this will be next years big project. The real question is - is it going to be the same or is there going do be something unique about it that keeps me interested, only time will tell.
