Another week of customer meetings and face-to-face meetings. This week was a week of scribbled notes, email drafts and more added tasks on my planner boards than tasks completed - a personal pipeline development week if you will. Well, enough to keep me a busy for a few more weeks at least.

  • 🐦‍🔥 - Tuesday was another 6DG customer meeting, this week in the city of Coventry. While there as part of my “introductions” series of customer meetings, this was certainly more of the listen-and-learn variety than normal. A customer with a slightly unusual context and good conversations about IaC for private cloud, Hyper-V and Azure Local. Definitely some ideas to stew on over the coming weeks.

  • 🎉 - Project-R, something I’ve been involved in for two years, from the beginning of the RFP to the completion of their migration has formally come to an end this week. While there are still additions smaller projects continuing over the coming weeks, so nothing has really stopped with the customer, the monthly project meeting was the last and a significant milestone for both parties. Perhaps what is often left unsaid for large, long-running engagements like this is that the celebration happens when the sale is closed, so by the time the project is completed the feeling I find myself left with is a strong sense of relief.

  • </> - A has a small call this week (as part of Project-R2) to discuss an approach to documentation as code. This is a topic pretty close to my heart as this is something I’ve been planning to introduce into Claranet for some time. While having markdown, pipelines and diagrams-as-code is all very interesting it opens the door to my next challenge - how to do this at scale, using AI, for hundreds of documents and how to integrate this with an ITSM process.

  • 🤝🏻 - Thursday was yet more 6DG face-to-face meetings. Different people, different experiences, scribbled notes and new ideas. Gives me some hope about what the future might look like over the coming months and years.
